Myanmr Tropical Cyclone Nargis Relief Fund




On May 2, 2008, a powerful tropical cyclone destroyed many cities and villages in Myanmar (Burma).   At the approximate speed of 120 mph storm hit the Irrawaddy division cities, Latputa , Bogalay, and including former capital Yangon. The U.N. experts estimate that 1.5 million people are facing hunger and disease.

Myanmar Community USA, Inc.

On July 21, 2003, to maintain and secure the opportunity for our Myanmar Community, serveral interested individuals decided to form "The Myanmar Community of the USA, Inc.(MCUSA)", a nonprofit public benefit corporation under the corporate laws, like the way corporations are founded.

MCUSA is committed to serving the Myanmar community-based associations and residents with the professional legal aids, health and social services referral assistance.

MCUSA provides services in English, Myanmar and Chinese languages to the Myanmar community.

MCUSA will work collaboratively with Catholic Charity, Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights (ICIR), Legal Assistance for Seniors (LAS), Bay Area Legal Aid (BayLegal), Asian Pacific Islanders Legal Outreach (APILO) and Asian Americans for Community Involvement’s Asian Women’s Home (AACI), etc. MCUSA provides legal aid and social services referral assistance to Myanmar community.

MCUSA provides referral assistance to other agencies and services and service providers for professional assistance, intake and assessment for application, consultation, educational workshops, and prevention activities.  Services are free to those receiving public benefits or who are low income. They are also offered on a sliding fee scale charged by the other agencies and service providers.

We are not lawyers and we do not give legal advice. We provide referral to other agencies for professional assistance.
